Replacing Marketplace Connect for Etsy
Lire en français : version française
According to Shopify’s official help, Marketplace Connect does not accept new Etsy connections at this time. If you are starting today, here are the alternatives.
What changed
Shopify’s official help says: “New connections to Etsy can’t be made at this time with the Shopify Marketplace Connect app. If you’re already selling on Etsy through Marketplace Connect, then you can continue to use the app.” (Shopify Marketplace Connect help page, checked on 16 October 2026). Check the current situation in the Shopify Help Center.
The alternatives
Third-party apps from the Shopify App Store
Several apps link Etsy and Shopify through Etsy’s API. They differ in scope (stock only, or also listings and orders), price and support. Read recent reviews and test before committing.
Manual updates
Workable for a small volume. See our guide on what to do when you oversell.
Broader inventory software
Some inventory tools cover many marketplaces. They do more, but are often more expensive and more complex for a seller who only uses Shopify and Etsy.
Migration checklist
- Export your product list with SKUs from both channels.
- Make SKUs consistent before connecting a tool (SKU guide).
- Check the GPSR information Etsy requires for the EU (our GPSR guide).
- Test on a few listings, then expand.
FAQ
Does my existing Marketplace Connect connection still work?
According to Shopify’s help, sellers already selling on Etsy through Marketplace Connect can continue to use the app; the restriction concerns new connections.
Do I have to give my Etsy password to an app?
No. Serious apps use Etsy’s official OAuth sign-in.
